AHMEDABAD: A BRTS driver found it impossible to resist panipuris as he drove past a roadside stall in Adalaj. He parked the bus full of passengers outside a residential society and took a 10-minute panipuri break. The incident took place last Saturday. After a video of the bus driver having panipuris went viral on social media, the civic body had to initiate action against him and the bus operator firm.
Sources said that Nilesh Parmar, the driver of the BRTS bus on the Zundal-Trimandir route, stopped the bus at Swagat City Society to have panipuris at a roadside stall. The passengers had to wait for him for nearly 10 minutes. One of the passengers recorded Parmar having his fill and uploaded the video on a social media platform.
Sources said that when BRTS Janmarg Ltd officials learnt about the incident they slapped a fine of Rs 15,000 on the operator. They also fined Parmar Rs 1,000 and suspended him.
Vishal Khanama, the assistant commissioner of BRTS Janmarg Ltd, confirmed that the incident had taken place on the evening of April 1. "We have slapped a fine of Rs 15,000 on the bus operator firm and suspended the driver," Khanama said.
