A federal judge in Texas preliminarily ruled on April 7 to suspend the approval of a pill used in most medication abortions. The decision could have far-reaching consequences on abortion access, reproductive-health experts said.

The ruling comes after the Supreme Court voted to overturn Roe v. Wade last summer. More than a dozen states have passed near-total abortion bans in the aftermath of the Supreme Court decision. Several states remain in legal battles over abortion access.
