Dhruvanarayan’s wife dies at 51; JD(S) forfeits seat
Mysuru: Veena, 51, wife of late Congress leader R Dhruvanarayana, breathed her last here on Friday. Her final rites will be held on Saturday at the family farmhouse in Heggavadi in Chamarajanagar district where Dhruvanarayana was also laid to rest. Dhruvanarayana, who was a two-time Chamarajanagar MP, died on March 11.
Congress Mysuru rural district unit president BJ Vijayakumar said Veena she passed away 7am in a private hospital on Friday.
As the news spread, senior leaders and the public visited the family's house in Vijay Nagar. She will be laid to rest on Saturday at 11 am, informed her son Darshan Dhruvanarayana, the Congress candidate from Nanjangud.
AICC president Mallikharjun Kharge, former AICC president Rahul Gandhi, opposition leader Siddaramaiah, KPCC president DK Shivakumar were among those condoled the death.
‘Not fielding candidate’
JD(S) has decided against fielding a candidate in Nanjangud against Darshan. “There are three ticket aspirants. But we are not fielding any candidate,” JD(S) MLA SR Mahesh, a close associate of former CM HD Kumaraswamy, said.
