One person was killed and 22 suffered injuries when a bus veered off the road and fell into a ditch in Pune in the wee hours of Saturday.According to an official, the accident took place at around 5.30am near Malad village in the district's Baramati taluka.

The city police have arrested a 30-year-old domestic help who allegedly broke open the safe at his employer's house while the Prabhadevi family was away holidaying in Siliguri and fled with gold ornaments, other valuables and cash with a total value of Rs 27 lakh. The Dadar police arrested Hanspuri Goswami, a native of Gujarat, who was working with the family as domestic help for the last five years.
Navi Mumbai: Man gets 7 years in jail for rape after house trespass
A man was sentenced to seven years in jail by a Thane court 19 years after he trespassed into a house and raped a woman. Additional Sessions Judge Rachna Tehra convicted Ramashankar Shukla, an autorickshaw driver, under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and also fined him Rs 5,500. He had entered the house of the victim in Nerul in Navi Mumbai and raped her, after which a police case was registered and he was arrested. (PTI)

BMC begins demolishing five illegal film studios in Madh
The BMC early on Friday began demolition of the five illegal studios in Malad’s Madh area. Till evening, two of the structures were pulled down. Officials said the demolition work will be completed by this weekend.The action comes a day after the National Green Tribunal (NGT) dismissed the appeal filed by illegal movie and television production studios against a BMC showcause notice to them to discontinue operations. “Despite Friday being a public holiday, the BMC ensured that action was initiated soon after the NGT order,” said a civic official.

3 of Borivli family die in Goa highway accident
Two children and a senior citizen were killed, and a couple was seriously injured after their car and a truck were involved in a head-on collision early on Friday morning on the Mumbai-Goa highway near Mangaon in Raigad district.The Tawade family from Borivli was travelling to their hometown at Devgad in the Sindhudurg district when the accident took place. Darshan Tawade, 36, who was at the wheels, and his wife Shweta, 34, parents of the two children, have been admitted to the Mangaon subdistrict hospital. Vaishali Tawade, 72, and her grandchildren Rivan and Ritya died.
