Rainfall, lightning likely at many places for two days
Jaipur: Mercury continued to rise across the state for the third consecutive day on Friday when most places witnessed maximum temperatures above the normal notch. Banswara remained hottest in the state with maximum temperature of 39.2 degrees Celsius. However, meteorological office in its forecast said that mild showers and lightning are likely to occur in Jaipur, Kota, Udaipur and Ajmer divisions on Saturday and Sunday.
Attributing the rising temperature to the active northerly winds, Jaipur Met office said that a short spell of western disturbances and anti-cyclonic circulation on Saturday will bring mild showers in districts including Jaipur, Dausa, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Ajmer, Bhilwara, Nagaur, Kota, Jhalawar, Baran, Udaipur, Chitorgarh and Dungarpur.
People in Jaipur got up to a comparatively warm morning when a minimum temperature of 22.6 degrees Celsius was recorded. It was followed by a sultry afternoon with a maximum temperature of 33.9 accompanied with humidity of 70%.
Since March this year, people in the state have witnessed seven spells of rainfall, hailstorm and lightning. “However, this time there is no possibility of hailstorm, a big relief for farmers,” said an officer with the Met office.
Due to the rainfall the average maximum temperature of the state so far has been almost 4 degrees below the normal notch. “Usually in the first week of April the average maximum temperature is around 40 degrees Celsius. However, this year so far this has been 36 degrees Celsius,” the officer added.
Met office further stated that from Monday mercury will take an upward swing and within next one week many places are likely to see maximum temperatures on or above 40 degrees Celsius.
