Nagpur: The Khapa range forest officials have arrested a person from Saoner while selling nilgai meat. The accused has been identified as Prakash Chhagan More, a resident of Ward Number 4, Saoner.
More was remanded to five days of forest custody by a local court. Sources said that More is a habitual offender. In the past too he has been involved in many cases of selling wild animals’ meat. Local wildlife lovers gave a tip-off about the illegal selling of meat by More to Ajinkya Bhatkar, WWF-India representative and former honorary wildlife warden.
Later, Khapa RFO SG Athawale and his staff laid a trap to catch More red-handed and approached him posing as customers.
During interrogation, the accused said the meat was being supplied by one Chaitram from Kelwad on the state border.
