Woman held for running sex racket denied bail
Thane: The sessions court of Thane rejected the bail plea of a female pimp who was arrested last year for pushing women into the flesh trade, including her own minor sister.
The sessions judge MB Patwari rejected the bail plea of Beauti alias Jyoti Mandal.
The lawyer informed that the Anti Human trafficking cell of Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar police last year had received a tip off that the accused was providing girls including minor girl to customers. Hence, they arranged for a decoy and sent him to the accused.
The bogus customer sought a minor girl to which she affirmed and asked for Rs 15,000 for a short time. While paying the amount at a specific location, the AHTC laid a trap and arrested the accused. She was arrested under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Immoral Trafficking act and other sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO).
The accused in her plea stated that she has been falsely implicated and there is no prima facie evidence against her. The investigation is complete and the charge-sheet is filed so she sought enlargement on bail.
On the other hand, the prosecution opposed the bail and mentioned that the charges are serious in nature and she is likely to tamper with the prosecution evidence, if she is released on bail. Further, it will be difficult to procure her presence at the time of trial.
The court after hearing both the sides, while rejecting the bail please noted that the victim rescued during the raid is the 16-year-old minor sister of the accused and the report has been supported by statements of other raiding party members which is further corroborated by a Whatsapp chat. Also the record shows that the accused was supplying girls for prostitution including minors by sending their photographs to the customers. She was the one who was coordinating with the customers, fixing the location for the transaction, accepting the amount and then supplying the girls for prostitution, the judge noted.
