Girls in vulgar dresses are like Shurpanakha, says BJP’s Kailash Vijayvargiya | WATCH

BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, who is no stranger to making controversial statements, courted yet another row on Thursday with his latest remarks saying that girls who are dressed “vulgarly” look like Shurpanakha— the evil sister of Ravana, the villain from Hindu epic Ramayana.

Speaking at a religious ceremony in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore to mark the Mahavir and Hanuman Jayanti, the senior BJP leader said Indians thinks of women as goddesses but the girl’s who wear “such bad clothes” don’t look like Devi (goddess), but resemble the demoness Shurpanakha.

Vijayvargiya also urged women to respect their body by wearing “nice clothes” and also advised parents to teach children such values. He said that whenever he sees young people roaming drunk at night, he feels an urge to slap them to sober them up.

The BJP veteran latest controversial remarks drew flak from social media users as well as the opposition who charged him with moral policing and misogynistic mindset.

In a tweet, Congress spokesperson Sangeeta Sharma said: “BJP leaders humiliate women again and again. It shows their thinking and their attitude. BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya ji calling women as Shurpankha and making objectionable comments on their dress is appropriate in independent India. Apologize BJP!”

Vijayvargiya is no stranger to making controversial statements as just last month he sparked a controversy by saying that India became a “Hindu Rashtra” or Hindu nation after the country’s partition which he said was done along religious lines and led to the formation of Pakistan in 1947.

Vijayvargiya had said that India was partitioned on religious lines after the independence, Pakistan was formed and what remained of the country is a ‘Hindu Rashtra.’

The senior politician who is also a former state cabinet minister, was criticized for his remarks on Agniveers in June last year.

The BJP leader had reportedly said that he would give priority to Agnipath recruits for security jobs at his BJP office but retracted his comments later by issuing a clarification later, saying he only meant that the excellence of Agniveers will be utilised in whichever field they choose after completing service in the defence forces.

Drunk passenger tries to open emergency door of Delhi-Bengaluru IndiGo flight, arrested

In yet another mid-air horror, a passenger in an inebriated condition allegedly tried to open the emergency door flap of the Delhi-Bengaluru IndiGo flight. The Bengaluru police arrested the passenger after the flight landed.

The incident of unruly behaviour on flight happened in flight number 6E 308 which took off at around 7:56 am on Friday from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The IndiGo Airlines released a statement stating that the drunk passenger, aged 40 years, in the Bengaluru-bound flight tried to open the emergency door flap in the mid-air. On noticing this violation, the crew on board alerted the captain and the passenger was appropriately cautioned. There was no compromise on the safe operation of the said flight, it added.

Once the flight landed in Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), the crew handed the accused to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel who are currently interrogating him.

The police said that they are currently interrogating him and will take necessary action thereafter. The accused is identified as R Pratheek who is a native of Nawabganj in Kanpur.

This is not the first time that the airlines are witnessing the unruly behaviour of passengers. Earlier this month, a 63-year-old Swedish national who was travelling on a Bangkok to Mumbai flight allegedly molested the 24-year-old cabin crew on an Indigo flight.

The Mumbai Police arrested him upon the arrival of the flight and was later produced in the Andheri court. However, he is out on bail.

Six people were reportedly arrested in 2022 for causing chaos on planes. Reportedly, eight arrests have already been made in connection with incidents involving unruly passengers in the first three months of 2023.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday hit out at NCERT textbooks deletions and criticised the decision to remove several chapters from the syllabus including Mughals.

The CPIM leader said one cannot reject historical facts which are inconvenient by just cutting them out from textbooks. In a Facebook post, Vijayan said the decision to remove a few chapters and sections from the NCERT textbooks with a political intention is not only a denial of history but also objectionable.

The Kerala CM also pointed out the removal of the sections on Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination and the RSS ban from the Class 12 political science textbook. He slammed the government and said the aim of such measures is to complete the saffronisation of the textbooks.

On the removal of Mughal chapters from History textbooks, Vijayan said the move will leave a study about India’s medieval history incomplete.

He continued that the medieval history of India has always been an area of distortion and by removing such portions, NCERT has now whitewashed the fake history manufactured by Sangh Parivar.

The National Council of Education Research and Training on Tuesday deleted texts related to Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination and his assassin Nathuram Godse, Hindu-Muslim unity, and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ban from the Class 12 syllabus.

NCERT chief Dinesh Saklani said the move did not happen overnight and should not be blown out of proportion. +He said some deletions were not announced in its rationalisation exercise last year and all changes will be carried out in the new textbooks.

Earlier this week, NCERT removed chapters on Mughals from History textbooks. Following criticism on social media over the same, NCERT issued a notification and clarified the chapters were removed due to the overlapping of similar chapters in the syllabus in lower and higher classes.

After an alleged audio call of the accused speaking to the players vulgarly leaked on social media, the Uttarakhand Police have already filed charges against him under the relevant sections of the POCSO Act and SC-ST Act.

As soon as his lewd conversations went viral on social media, the 53-year-old coach made an attempt at suicide and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The three girls who filed a complaint against Shah, accusing him of sexual harassment, have provided 164 statements to the police.
