VADODARA: The condition of two persons who were injured when the slab of an overhead water tank they were working on collapsed on Thursday evening in the Chharchhoda village of Garbada taluka are said to be critical.
Three injured labourers had been rushed to Vadodara for treatment.
They along with two others were working on the slab for a government water supply scheme when it suddenly collapsed. All five workers fell from a height and were injured.
The condition of three of them was reported to be serious on Thursday evening.
Anand district collector Dr Harshit Gosavi said that the condition of one of the three seriously injured persons improved on Friday. "The remaining two were not critical, but since their condition was serious people from their village wanted to take them for treatment to Vadodara," he said.
Gosavi added that a report regarding the incident had been sought from officials in Ghoghamba. "We have asked the taluka development officer and the mamlatdar to prepare a report regarding the incident," he said.
The work on the tank was being conducted by a private contractor.
Sources said that there was a possibility of some mistake by the labourers while filling the slab which may have led to the incident.
