Two women die after complaining of stomach ache
Mangaluru: Two women, both aged 21, died on Thursday after complaining of acute stomach pain and vomiting. According to police, the deceased are Rakshitha and Lavanya, of Patrame village in Belthangady.
Police have registered two separate cases of unnatural death over their demise. It is suspected that the women, who were close friends, may have consumed poison or could have died due to some illness.
In her complaint, mother of Rakshitha, said that her daughter was working as a service representative with an organisation for the past one year. On April 2, when the complainant and her husband returned from work, they found their daughter sleeping and got to know that she had complained of stomach ache and vomited several times. She had visited a clinic and got treatment. On April 4, she was admitted to a hospital as she was feeling very weak. She was referred to another hospital where the doctors suspected that she was suffering from jaundice. She was then shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru where she died around 1.15 am on Thursday.
Lavanya’s mother said on April 2, her daughter complained of stomach ache and the next day, she availed treatment at a hospital. On April 5, she was taken to a hospital in Puttur. The doctors, who examined her, said she was suffering from fever and food poisoning following which she was shifted to a hospital in Surathkal where she died around 4.25pm on Thursday.
