No threat found at Oklahoma University after reporting shooter on campus

University of Oklahoma reported the presence of an active shooter inside its college premises on Saturday. However, threat was nullified after authorities conducted thorough research of the premises

In another case of shooting inside education institute, the University of Oklahoma reported the presence of an active shooter inside its college premises in the United States on Saturday.

However, the alert following the news of shooter inside campus was cancelled affter OUPD conducted a full investigation of the matter and gave clearance of any threat in the college campus.

"OU-NORMAN Critical 10:53pm: OUPD has issued an ALL CLEAR. After a thorough search, no threat was found. There is no threat to campus. Alert has been canceled,"tweeted the Oklahoma University on its official Twitter handle.

The university informed about the presence of an active shooter on its official Twitter account. Earlier, in the day, it tweeted of hearing possible shots fired in its Norman campus on Saturday.

"There is an active shooter at the Van Vleet Oval. OUPD investigating possible shots fired on Norman campus," tweeted the University of Oklahoma on Saturday.

During the investigation, the students were advised to avoid the South Oval area and to seek shelter at a safe place as authorities continued with their operation for the shooter. While updating about the ongoing shooting incident, the university had advised its students to “Run.Hide.Fight!" to save their lives. 

“There is an active shooter at the Van Vleet Oval. Take immediate action now. Run. Hide. Fight!" the college had tweeted earlier today.

The colleged had advised the students to avoid the South Oval area and to shelter at place as authorities sweeped the college campus for the shooter.

Visuals on local media showed multiple police vehicles outside the University of Oklahoma. The incident comes just days after three children and three adults were killed during a school shooting in Nashville. 

In the wake of US' liberal shooting arms policy, there have been rising cases of mass shooting. This year, there have been more than 100 cases of mass shootings.
