Rajkot: A 14-year-old boy on Friday alleged that he was subjected to electric shocks allegedly by the rector of his hostel for refusing to do cleaning work in Jasdan taluka of Rajkot district. The issue came to light when the Class 8 boy from Parevada village of Jasdan regained consciousness on Friday five days after he was admitted to Rajkot civil hospital.
According to case details, the boy’s father is a farm labourer. The minor boy was studying in a boarding school in Ambardi village of Jasdan which is near his native Parevada. The boy’s father alleged that the rector of the boarding school Kishan Ganganiya and four others gave his son electric shocks after locking him in a room. When brought to the hospital the boy had burns on his face, hands and other parts of the body, said police.
When contacted, the managing trustee of the boarding school, Khoda Kasiya refuted the allegations and said that they never make students work in the school. “The boy climbed a tree on Monday and came in contact with a high-tension electric line near the tree. This is the reason for the burns,” said Kasiya.
He added that the hostel staff rushed the boy to a nearby hospital and from where he was taken to Rajkot civil hospital for further treatment. “The allegations made by the boy’s family are baseless and we are ready to face any kind of investigation,” Kasiya said. Police said that no FIR had been filed in the matter as the investigation into the allegations made by the boy’s family was on.
