KANPUR: A new born girl was stolen from Bara Sirohi Community Health Centre in Kalyanpur area of the city a few hours after her birth on Friday.
The mother of the baby girl was resting when the child was stolen from the maternity ward of the CHC.
On getting information about the incident, when police reached, and scanned the footage of the CCTV installed in the hospital, a woman was captured carrying the infant in her lap and leaving the hospital in a huff.
Manoj Kumar, a private worker and a resident of Siteypur village in Panki, in his complaint to the police stated that his wife Sushma Devi gave birth to a baby girl when he was taking her to hospital in an ambulance late on Thursday night.
Later, the mother and the child were admitted to Bara Sirohi CHC. Mahesh said his mother Krishna was present in the hospital to look after his wife Sushma.

The woman told Sushma that her relative is also undergoing treatment at the hospital. Thereafter, she lifted the baby from the cradle on the pretext of caressing. Before Sushma could realise her intention, she disappeared from the hospital in seconds,” he said.
