BJP has secret pact with Cong on Varuna: HDK

Mysuru: JD(S) top brass and former CM HD Kumaraswamy on Thursday accused BJP of having a secret understanding with Congress in Varuna constituency from where former CM Siddaramaiah will contest. BJP is not ready to field a strong candidate against Siddaramaiah, he claimed. Speaking to reporters during Pancharatna Yatra in Periyapatna, he said though BJP can give a tough fight against Siddaramaiah, it is not ready to field a strong contender.
He ridiculed BJP’s plans to campaign with the support of Kannada actor Sudeep and Telugu actor Pavan Kalyan. How can BJP attract people when its star campaigner like PM Modi is not able to get crowds, he said. On the Hassan JD(S) ticket row, he said he has made his stand clear that the party would field a JD(S) worker and not any member of former PM HD Deve Gowda family as it would send a wrong signal to party workers. He reiterated that his wife, sitting MLA Anitha Kumaraswamy will not contest the assembly polls. TNN
