Police seize ₹1.6 crore cash

Belagavi: Keeping an eagle eye on transportation of unaccounted money ahead of election, a flying squad team (FST) and police officials continued the raids in the state border and seized Rs 1.6 crore unaccounted cash at Koganolli toll gate on Wednesday late night. The cash was being transported to Hubballi from Mumbai via Nipani and Belagavi, in a private bus.
The FST and Nippani police carried out a joint search operation at Koganolli toll gate. One person has been detained in connection with the case. Police officials gave information to the income tax department. A case has been registered in Nippani police station and investigation is underway. Cash was recovered as no appropriate documents regarding the source of money were furnished, SP Sanjeev Patil said.
