17 more test positive for Covid in Bihar

PATNA: The state registered 17 more Covid-19 cases for the second consecutive day on Thursday. With this, the number of active cases has reached 61. Majority of these active cases are in Patna district, which accounts for 75% of all the cases. A day before, 17 Covid cases were registered in Bihar.
As per the data shared by health department, the new cases reported on Thursday were against over 43000 samples tested in last 24 hours. While Patna district accounts for the majority of cases, one each case was found in Paliganj, Athmalgola, Ghoswari, Fatuha and Sampatchak.
Apart from Patna district, which had 46 active cases out of the total 61, five active cases were reported in Gaya, followed by East Champaran (2), Jehanabad (2) and one each in Saharsa, Aurangabad, Kishanganj, Sitamarhi and Khagaria. One active case was from other state, which was tested in Bihar.
Though the cases are increasing in the state, most of the positive cases were under home isolation with mild symptoms.
Health department secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh said, only one active case, a 70-year-old woman from Jehanabad, is undergoing treatment at Anugraha Narayan Medical College and Hospital, Gaya. As on Thursday, the youngest active case was a six-year-old boy, while the oldest was a 75-year-old woman, both from the state capital.
As per the Union government's data, 5335 new cases were registered across the country, with a maximum 1912 cases in Kerala, followed by Maharashtra (569) and Delhi (509). Bihar was placed at 23rd position with 17 new cases.
