Alamgir robbery cracked, 2 arrested
Ludhiana: Ludhiana police successfully cracked a month-old robbery case at Alamgir with the arrest of two miscreants.
The duo, identified as 25-year-old Shivam Tangri and Harmeet Singh (23), had struck at a house of an elderly couple — Jaspal Singh and his wife Inderjit Kaur — in Dashmesh Enclave in Amalgir on March 1. The assailants, who were wearing masks, had entered the couple’s home through the main entrance and held a weapon to Jaspal Singh’s temple and tied his hands and feet with a rope. The miscreants had then taken out Rs 1.27 lakh cash from the cupboard and fled the scene after locking the couple in a room and taking away their mobile phones.
Police commissioner Mandeep Singh Sidhu said a toy pistol, a motorcycle, iron rod, three mobile phones and Rs 40,000 were seized from the accused.
