Mangaluru: The CCB sleuths of the Mangaluru city police arrested a person on the charges of duping more than 30 persons. The accused is Sudhir Rao VR,42, a resident of Bejai. City police commissioner Kuldeep Kumar R Jain said on Thursday, that the accused under the pretext of promising jobs in Bulgaria, collected lakhs of rupees from the public, and cheated them by not providing them with job visas. Two cases with regard to promising jobs in Bulgaria were registered at the Moodbidri police station and Bantwal Town police station.
The accused is allegedly involved in several cheating cases in various police stations in Mangaluru city and Dakshina Kannada district. He has allegedly cheated societies by presenting fake documents for securing loans for car purchases. Cases in this regard were registered at Surathkal, Mangaluru East, Mangaluru South and Kankanady police stations.
A total of eight cases were registered against the accused, and he has cheated individuals and societies to the tune of more than Rs 50 lakh. There is a possibility that he may have cheated many more people. An investigation is in progress, the commissioner said.
