HYDERABAD: A cab driver was beaten, robbed and carjacked by two of his passengers at Pahadishareef on Wednesday night. The car was subsequently recovered and police have reportedly taken one person into custody.
Cops said that the cab was booked by one of the accused. The driver picked the two men at Pahadishareef and after travelling some distance, at an isolated place, the accused asked him to stop to attend nature's call, police said.
Sensing trouble, the driver also got out of the car. But the accused threw chilli powder in his eyes and attacked him on the head with a metal rod, cops said. They then took his mobile phone and drove away in the car.
The driver took help from a passerby and called police who took him to a hospital. The injury on his head required six stitches.
The cops have taken the man who booked the cab into custody, according to sources.
