Cops ban entry of MNS chief in Mumbra
Thane: Thane city police have issued prohibitory orders to restrain MNS Thane district chief Avinash Jadhav to enter Mumbra township following his demand to raze the alleged illegal structures on the hillock of Mumbra. The order was issued by ACP Kalwa, Vilas Shinde, against Jadhav under section 144 of CrPc, citing possible law and order situation in Mumbra, and the ongoing Ramzan month.
The action on Jadhav comes after MNS supremo Raj Thackeray raised the issue of unauthorised constructions. Jadhav then gave a memorandum to the Thane collector to remove such structures which are located on the hillock of Mumbra. The demand raised eyebrows among the Mumbra citizens and accused Jadhav of disturbing communal harmony. On the other hand, Jadhav claimed that if the police want to maintain law and order they should take action on such unauthorised structures. Simultaneously, tensions gripped Mumbra as the mob started to gather outside Mumbra police station demanding action against Jadhav. The police, led by DCP Ganesh Gawade pacified the mob. The mob of over 1,000 people were demanding action on Jadhav.
