TIRUPATI: Tirupati district police wing on Friday arrested four key accused in the sensational murder case of a software engineer.
S Nagaraju (35), was murdered and his body was set on fire inside his own vehicle near Chandragiri recently.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, additional SP A Venkata Rao briefed reporters about how the key accused in the case hatched a plan and eliminated the victim on April 1.
S Nagaraju was working in Bengaluru. His younger brother S Purushotham's (31) extramarital affair with a local person identified as B Rupunjaya’s wife at their native village Diguva Brahmanapalli in Vedurukuppam mandal of Chittoor district led to frequent altercations between the two families.
After Nagaraju learnt about Rupunjaya and his associates planning to eliminate Purushottam, he sent his brother to Bengaluru to remain safe and continued his efforts to patch up with Rupunjaya in the meantime.
However, after Nagaraju recorded one of their mobile phone conversations and shamed Rupunjaya among the locals, Rupunjaya and his brother Chanakya Prathap hatched a plan to eliminate Nagaraju and to execute the plan, they took the support of Peta Gopinath Reddy, Appanna Ramesh and Appanna Kumar.
As per the plan, they invited Nagaraju for another round of negotiations at Chandragiri and took him to an isolated location where they made Nagaraju consume alcohol.
After Nagaraju got inebriated, the accused choked him to death.
Later they placed the victim in his car, poured petrol on it and set it on fire in a bid to project it as an accident.
The five member gang later escaped from the spot.
Police managed to arrest B Rupunjaya, Gopinath Reddy, Appanna Ramesh and Appanna Kumar and the accused confessed to their crime.
Additional SP A Venkata Rao told reporters that the special teams are on the lookout for Chanakya Prathap who is still absconding.
