Deeply hurt by Anil’s decision, says Antony
Thiruvananthapuram: Veteran Congress leader and former defence minister A K Antony said he was deeply hurt with the decision of his son Anil Antony to join the BJP. “It has caused great pain and it is a completely wrong decision,” a visibly upset Antony told reporters.
“The cornerstone of the country is secularism and pluralism. The BJP is trying to debilitate this. The BJP is trying to destabilize the communal harmony in the country. Till my last breath I will be a vociferous critic of the BJP and its policies. My allegiance, respect and love will always remain with the Nehru family,” said Antony.
Trying hard to hide his tears, Antony said he will remain a Congressman till his last breath. “I am approaching the last years of my life. I am 82 now. I don’t know how long I will live. I don’t wish to live a longer life. But it doesn’t matter, till the day I die I’ll be a Congressman,” said Antony.
Antony, who had come to the KPCC headquarters to speak to the media, was accompanied by his wife and younger son. He was visibly upset and was not ready to take questions from the media. He made it clear that he will no longer talk about his son’s political betrayal. “This is the first and last time that I have spoken about Anil’s decision. I will not talk about it any more,” Antony added.
