Samsung has started rolling out the April 2023 security update to the Galaxy S20 series. The update is currently available in some Latin American markets, including Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Trinidad And Tobago. The update could roll out in other markets, including Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America, within the next few days.
Galaxy S20 series gets April 2023 security patch with the new update
The latest software update for the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra comes with firmware version G98xBXXSGHWCF. This update is for the 5G versions of the smartphones and brings the April 2023 security patch that fixes over 60 security and privacy flaws found in Galaxy smartphones. The update might also include general bug fixes and stability improvements. Since the phones received the One UI 5.1 update with a lot of new features a couple of months ago, don’t expect the latest update to bring any new features.
If you live in any of the countries mentioned above and have a Galaxy S20 series smartphone, you can now download the April 2023 security update by heading over to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.
Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 series in early 2020 with Android 10 onboard. Toward the end of 2020, the smartphones received the Android 11-based One UI update. In late 2021, the phones began getting the Android 12-based One UI 4 update. A few months ago, the devices received the Android 13-based One UI 5 update.
