AMARAVATI: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo Chandrababu Naidu on Friday threw a selfie challenge to Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy while showing the Tidco (Township and Infrastructure Development Corporation) houses constructed during the TDP regime.
He asked the CM to explain as to how many houses he constructed in the last four years.
Naidu — during his visit to Nellore district on Friday — inspected the Tidco housing colony in Nellore town.
The TDP government had constructed nearly 20,000 flats in Nellore city alone.
Although more than 90 per cent works were completed before the last assembly elections, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) government was unable to complete the remaining works to hand over the housing units to the beneficiaries.
The Nellore Municipal Corporation officials have so far handed over just around 2,000 flats to the owners in the last four years.
Expressing serious displeasure at the delay in handing over of the housing units to the beneficiaries, the TDP chief said that Tidco colonies were the best examples to "showcase the failure of Reddy".
“This colony shows what TDP did to the poor. Jagan should come out in the open as to how many houses he constructed in the last four years,” Naidu, while sharing a selfie from the Tidco colony, said.
Naidu said that the TDP government constructed several lakhs of houses for the poor under various schemes.
He blamed that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had not only brought the entire development to halt but took the prospects of development 30 years back.
He asked the party leaders and cadres to throw similar selfie challenges to the chief minister by highlighting the developmental works taken up during the TDP regime.
Meanwhile, TDP legislator Nandamuri Balakrishna has appealed to people to defeat the YSRCP in the next elections to "bring prosperity back to the state".
Balakrishna participated in Nara Lokesh Yuvagalam padayatra in Singanamala constituency on Friday.
Speaking to the media, Balakrishna said that a government "which imposes a garbage tax on people" has never been seen in history.
“The CM doesn’t know the difference between Gigabyte and megabyte. How could he bring industries particularly IT to the state?” asked Balakrishna.
He said that many YSRCP legislators have realised that travelling with Jagan is nothing but sinking in the ocean and looking at TDP to serve the people.
Balakrishna lauded Nara Lokesh for taking up long padayatra to create awareness among the people particularly youth to fight against the archaic rule of YS Jagan.
He said that the CM had "ruined the development in the state with his foolish attitude".
