Belthangady police arrest 4 over altercation

Mangaluru: The Belthangady police arrested four persons following an altercation over a trivial issue, near Ujire. According to police, Mahammed Zaheer from Kakkinje in Charmadi filed a complaint against Nithesh, Sachin, Dinesh, Avinash on Tuesday accusing them of entering into an altercation with him. Dakshina Kannada SP Dr Vikram Amathe said that the complainant and suspects hail from the same village and are known to each other.
He said that the youths had travelled in the same bus from Mangaluru to Ujire, where they picked an argument. It is suspected that the argument continued even after they alighted from the bus, he added. Further, it is alleged that there was an argument over a woman who was also travelling in the bus. The police said that they will probe the case from all angles.
The video of the altercation has gone viral on social media. A case has been registered under IPC Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 506 (criminal intimidation) read with 34. TNN
