Holidaymakers travelling through the port of Dover during Easter holidays are facing further delays due to long queues forming for ferries.
The Operator DFDS has reported that passport checks by French officials are taking up to 90 minutes, and advised passengers that border control queues are occurring due to high volumes of traffic.
Last weekend saw thousands of travellers delayed for over 12 hours due to extra checks and passport stamping by French border officials following Brexit.
The Dover port officials have held an urgent review with ferry operators and the French authorities to prevent a repeat of the delays experienced last weekend.
The RAC is predicting that up to 17 million leisure trips by car will take place over the Easter weekend, and travellers are advised to check with their travel providers and allow extra time for border processing.
