A woman and her two children were killed by a family member, who later also set their bodies on fire, at a tin shed house in the Pisoli area of Pune city.

The incident came to light on Wednesday night. Police have identified the deceased as Amrapali Waghmare (25), her daughter Roshni (6) and four year old son Aditya.

Police have arrested the killer Vaibhav Roopsen Waghmare (30), native of Ausa in Latur district. He was currently working as a private security guard in the Pisoli area.

A first information report (FIR) has been lodged against the accused at the Kondhwa police station, as per sections 302, 210 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Police said Amrapali is married to Vaibhav’s cousin, and both entered into an illicit relationship. Subsequently, she separated from her husband who is staying in Latur. She along with her children and accused Vaibhav shifted to Pune about a year before. Vaibhav worked as a private security guard at a farmland in Pisoli. He was residing with the deceased woman and her two children in a tin shed at the farmland.

On Wednesday, he had a quarrel with Amrapali suspecting her illicit relationship with another man. As the quarrel worsened, the accused strangled Amrapali and her children to death in a fit of anger. Then he covered the bodies with clothes, bed sheets and wood and set them on fire in the ten shed house.

Locals informed the police and fire brigade after seeing flames. After knowing about the incident, a team of Kondhwa police station rushed to the spot and found the bodies of Amrapali and her children. Cops nabbed the accused on charges of murder.

Police inspector Sanjay Mogle said the accused was produced before a court today afternoon. “The court has remanded the accused to police custody for ten days. Accused had come to Pune with the woman following their affair. But he murdered the woman and her children. Details of the murders are being investigated,” said Mogle.
