Yoga guru Khandwe’s book launch on April 8
Nagpur: A book on the healing capacities of yoga authored by yoga guru Ram Khandwe will be launched on April 8. Co-authored by Dr Annirudh Gurjalwar, the book talks about the impact of yoga on one’s health and draws upon Khandwe’s over four decades of experience in the field.
The book ‘Yogopchar’ informs how scientific medicinal methods can be combined with yoga to obtain better results for patients. Khandwe’s well known Janardan Swami Yogabhyasi Mandal (JSYM) was started by Janardan Swami in 1951, with an aim to provide relief to his patients. Since his death in 1978, Khandwe has been been heading the organization.
Dr Gurjalwar said, “Similar books of this category are too complex and can only be read and understood by medical practitioners. And that is what makes this book unique and probably none exists like it.”
Sharing more insight, he said, “The popular ‘Yogopchar’ is only related to traditional practices and is too difficult to follow for patients who might have problems and are not able to use all their limbs. Guruji (Khandwe) has simplified such practices so it can be easily done by people.”
On chronic diseases, Dr Gurjalwar said, “Yoga can’t cure such diseases but it can make the position of the patients better. For Covid there is a whole chapter.” The book contains chapters for mental illnesses such as autism, depression, anxiety and many others.
The Marathi will be released on April 8 while the English and Hindi translations will be released before December. tnn
