Belagavi: Flying squad team (FST) and police seized Rs 2 crore unaccounted cash at Hirebagewadi toll gate in the early hours of Wednesday. The cash was being transported to Mangaluru from Mumbai via Belagavi in a private bus.
The FST team and Hirebagewadi police carried out a joint search operation and seized the cash. One person has been arrested in connection to the case. The district election officer Nitesh Patil visited the spot and gave information to the
income tax department.
DCP PV Sneha, Belagavi Rural ACP Gopalgoudar, election officer Rajashekhar Dambal and CPI Amaresh, and FST sleuths Shambulingappa and Rajendra Morabad participated in the raid. A case is registered at Hiregewadi police station. City police commissioner MB Boralingaiah has appreciated the work of FST team and Hirebagewadi police.
Gold, silver seized Nandagad in Khanapur police seized gold and silver articles worth Rs 40.3 lakh along with a car worth Rs 13 lakh. Police said 395.7g unaccounted gold worth of Rs 21,25,304, and 28.1 kg unaccounted silver worth Rs19,08,420 was found in the car.
The vehicle was moving from Haliyal in North Canara to Kakkeri village in Khanapur taluk. The value of the seized items is Rs 53,33,724. A case has been registered in Nandagad police station. TNN
