Rajkot: A real estate developer in Bhavnagar was allegedly kidnapped by four unidentified people who released him only after he promised to pay them Rs 10 lakh.
In his complaint, Hitesh Ghoghari told the police that two people on a bike picked up a fight with him on April 4 when he was returning to his office near Rupani Circle after inspecting a construction site. When he got down from the car, one of them told him that his car had brushed their bike and one of them suffered leg injury.
Meanwhile, two other people joined the duo and they forcibly sat in his car. Ghoghari alleged that they attacked him with a knife and inflicted injuries on his hands and right leg.
The four took Ghoghari on the road towards Balanagar and stopped the vehicle at an isolated spot where they demanded Rs 50 lakh for his release.
Goghari then called his wife and asked her to come with her gold ornaments. He then promised the kidnappers to pay Rs 10 lakh the next day and Rs 15 lakh after a fortnight. The accused then released Ghoghari, but threatened to kill him if he approached the police.
Ghogha Road police have launched a search for the accused.
