Six cops from GRP Pune suspended for misconduct

The policemen intercepted a couple, held them for a few hours and let them leave only after paying money, sources said.

Six personnel of the government railway police (GRP), Pune, have been suspended for alleged misconduct with a couple.

Police sources said that six were on duty at the Pune Railway station on April 3 to check for suspicious persons and luggage. But they intercepted a couple, held them for a few hours and let them leave only after paying money, the sources said.

The couple later complained to the higher authorities in the state police department about the incident.

An inquiry was ordered in this matter. Based on the findings of the inquiry, six policemen attached to the GRP, Pune have been suspended.
