Bhubaneswar: The state on Wednesday saw 68 new Covid infections with one needing hospitalisation. Health experts have urged caution but said there is no reason to panic as they feel the infection won’t translate into a full-blown epidemic.
With the fresh cases, the active caseload has moved close to 300. The
test positivity rate (TPR) is 1.36% as 4,971 samples have been tested. Doctors said people should wear masks to avoid getting infected.
“The current infection seems to have been triggered by XBB.1.16,” said Dr Jayant Panda, professor of medicine, SCB Medical College and Hospital.
Dr Niranjan Mishra, director of public health said, “We are watching the situation. There is no need for self-medication. If symptoms persist, one should consult a doctor.”
