MUMBAI: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence on Tuesday arrested two Telangana natives, and one Nigerian national, at the Mumbai International Airport for smuggling two kg cocaine worth Rs 20 crore from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Arrested accused Mohammed Imran (35) and Sayyed Hussain (40) were produced before the local court which remanded them to two days of DRI custody. Based on specific intelligence the agency intercepted the two passengers who had arrived from Addis Ababa and recovered 1970gm cocaine.
They later arrested the recipient of the contraband Sayyed Hussain who had come from Hyderabad to Mumbai for it. Imran told that Hussain is his uncle who used to smuggle gold from Dubai and Saudi Arabia to India; and that on Hussain's orders he had visited Addis Ababa on March 23 and had brought the contraband. The DRI later arrested Nigerian national Morris, key member of the drug syndicate. Officials said the third accused will be produced in the court on Thursday. -
