Mangaluru: Akhila Bharatha Mundala Yuva Vedike said that the internal reservation announced by the state government will be an injustice to Mundala community members.
Vedike founder president Kiran Kumar Kodialbail told reporters on Tuesday that the Mundala community, a subcaste in the Scheduled Castes, is engaged in worshipping Babbuswamy Daiva. The community has a population of three lakh in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Hassan, Shivamogga and Kasaragod districts.
“As per the notification on internal reservation, 89 castes including that of Mundala will get 1 % reservation in the SC community, which is condemnable,” Kiran Kumar said.
Kiran Kumar said that the government should follow the reservation system that was practiced in the past. “If the government fails to withdraw the notification, the vedike will create awareness among the community members on the injustice in every village and will hold an agitation in the future,” he warned.
“Owing to the internal reservation, the community members will face injustice educationally, socially and politically. The notification is unscientific and should be withdrawn immediately,” he added.
