Vadodara: A video of a couple of students brandishing swords inside M S University on Wednesday raised serious concerns on the state of security on the campus.
After the video of students brandishing swords went viral, university’s vigilance staff picked up the students from the Faculty of Arts. They were asked to submit a written explanation for possession of swords. The university officials later handed over the students to police for further investigation.
MSU’s officiating registrar Dr K M Chudasama said that four students including three boys and one girl student were seen playing with swords behind the main building of Faculty of Arts. “One student had recorded the clip. After the clip went viral, our vigilance staff brought the students seeking their explanation. The students have informed us that they had brought the swords for a swords competition outside the university campus,” he said.
“The students would have not realized the seriousness of displaying swords inside the campus. It seems they were clicking photographs with swords in their hands. While we have already sought an written explanation and apology from them, the police are further investigating the matter,” he said, adding that any action if any will be based on further investigation by the police.
