Chennai gets six more all-women police stations

CHENNAI: City police commissioner Shankar Jiwal inaugurated six more all-women police stations on Wednesday.
The stations are at Kotturpuram, Taramani, Neelankarai, Meenambakkam, Puzhal and Koyambedu.
The newly created police stations will have one inspector of police and eight other police personnel including sub-inspectors of police, head constables and constables. “They have created these new police stations according to recommendations forwarded to the state home department,” Jiwal said.
Totally, there are 101 law and order police stations and crime police stations each. There are 37 all-women police stations now.
Kotturpuram all-women police station covers Kotturpuram and Abiramapuram police station jurisdictions, while Taramani all-women police station will handle Taramani and Thoraipakkam police station jurisdictions.
Neelankarai and Thiruvanmiyur police station jurisdictions are brought under the Neelankarai all-women police station. Meenambakkam all-women police station will handle the airport and Meenambakkam police station jurisdiction. Likewise, Pushal and Madhavaram police stations will be monitored by the Puzhal all-women police station and the Koyambedu all-women police station will handle the jurisdictions of Koyambedu and CMBT police stations.
