Designer ‘safa’ to be offered to Lord Hanuman
Prayagraj: A team of five people are busy in stitching and decorating a special designer ‘safa’ (turban) to be offered to Lord Hanuman on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti at famous Bade Hanuman temple, located at Sangam on Thursday. This zari-embroidered ‘safa’ with 60-inch sphericity and 22-inch length will be resplendent on the presiding deity of the revered Bade Hanuman temple during the special shringar programme amidst chanting mantra and ‘shloks’.
Rajesh Chaurasia along with four of his employees are working overtime to decorate the special ‘safa’. Rajesh, who deals in stitching and selling Ramleela protagonists costumes across the state told TOI, “We are making special arrangements for Hanuman Jayanti and this time, the specially embroidered turban would be 60 inches wide and the fabric has been sourced from Japan and embellished with zari”. He added, “ Khuldabad resident Mohd Sartaj Khan, who has been quietly spreading the message of communal harmony by actively participating in Ramleelas for the past 12 years and adorning epic characters on stage with his specially tailored clothes, is working hard to stitch the safa. Besides, two women have been assigned to decorate the safa with moti and other materials.” Meanwhile, special arrangements have been made at temples in the city to celebrate the day. Temples of Lord Hanuman were being decked up and security has been beefed up to check the rush of devotees at temples.
