MUMBAI: A 24-year-old woman and her paramour were arrested for killing her husband last month. The victim was pushed into a quarry but on seeing him survive, the paramour strangled him. On March 31 at around 8am, the Valiv police were informed about a body lying in a quarry in Wagralpada in Vasai (East). The body was identified as that of Sunil Dubey (32), a vegetable vendor and resident of the same locality.
The police registered an accidental death case and sent the body for autopsy that revealed the death to have been caused by strangulation.
Investigations revealed that Dubey's wife Munnidevi was having an affair with Sanjay Prasad (24), a resident of the same locality. Police said that Dubey learnt about the affair and he confronted his wife. She along with Sanjay decided to eliminate him.
On March 31, Sanjay took Dubey for a drink on the pretext of explaining to him that he was not having an affair with Munnidevi. After their drinks they walked atop a hillock from where Sanjay pushed Dubey into the quarry.
However, on finding him alive with only having suffered head injuries, Sanjay walked down to the quarry and strangled him with a nylon rope. Police said that while Munnidevi had not gone to the crime scene, it was she who had planned the killing with Sanjay. A case of murder has been registered against the two.
