NEW DELHI: Speeches of the Prime Minister and President of India, public awareness campaigns, and content related to events of national importance, will be among the content that will be disseminated through Alexa and Amazon Music as part of an agreement signed between the ministry of information and broadcasting and Amazon on Wednesday.
The multidimensional partnership involving various arms of the I&B ministry and Amazon Prime Video, Alexa, Amazon Music, Amazon e-marketplace, and IMDb, will focus on promotion of Indian heritage through a dedicated catalogue of Publication Division's books on India's culture on the Amazon e-commerce website, and promotion of Indian music through Amazon Music and Alexa.
"The partnership will help strengthen industry-academia linkages through provisions for scholarships, internships, masterclasses, and other opportunities for students at Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute of India (SRFTI), and help to reduce the period of struggle for the talented artists coming out of prestigious film institutes of India," Union I&B minister Anurag Thakur said.
Amazon Prime Video (APV) will sponsor scholarships, create internship programmes, and offer job opportunities for FTII and SRFTI students, apart from undertaking skill-building activities in partnership with National Film Development Corporation.
"As we celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, this milestone letter of engagement with the ministry of I&B, strengthens our commitment to globally promote and showcase India's creative talent and stories through our multiple services," said Chetan Krishnaswamy, vice president, public policy at Amazon India.
India's award-winning films and those produced as part of India's international co-production treaties will also be onboarded by Amazon Prime Video for its global audience.
