Executive helped company become world’s most valuable car maker in his first stint with the firm

Tesla Inc. wants to bring its former technology chief back into the fold.

JB Straubel, who left Tesla in 2019 and now runs a battery-materials company, has been nominated to the auto maker’s board of directors, the company said in a regulatory filing on Thursday.
