NOIDA: The city reported 47 new Covid cases on Wednesday after officials tested 537 samples. There are 206 active cases in Noida now. Officials said 8 Covid patients are in hospitals, but none on oxygen or ventilator support.
"The Covid patients, currently in hospitals, have mild symptoms only but are comorbid and admitted due to age. Till now, none of the patients has shown severe symptoms," said surveillance officer Dr Amit Kumar.
However, in view of the rise in Covid cases since March 15, the health department has ramped up preparations with more oxygen beds, medicines, ambulances, and trained staff at the hospitals.
Earlier, district magistrate Manish Verma reviewed the Covid-related preparations on Monday. At the time, he instructed officials to increase testing and prepare for a further rise in cases.
Neighbouring Ghaziabad reported 13 new Covid cases on Wednesday after officials tested 568 samples. There are 72 active cases in the city now.
Two patients are in hospitals, while four others are in facilities in other districts. The health officials said since most patients have symptoms common in previous waves and been recovering within a week, hospitalisation is necessary only for elderly patients with comorbidities.
Ghaziabad had eight patients admitted at various hospitals till Tuesday. However, seven patients got discharged on Wednesday, while a new patient got admitted on the same day.
