Man, minor daughter end life, motive not known
Kanpur: A 44-year-old man, who had returned home from Mumbai on Tuesday, committed suicide allegedly by consuming poison along with his 14-year-old daughter in Bibipur village of Sajeti police station area of the district on Wednesday.
On seeing them frothing, their neighbours took them to the Hamirpur district Community Health Centre, where both were declared dead. What caused the man to resort to the extreme step has not been ascertained yet. Sajeti police station in charge said, “We are questioning the man’s eight-year-old daughter, who was present with them at the time of incident.” The police added that Manoj, a resident of Bibipur village, used to work as a painter in Kurla, Mumbai. “His wife had left house 6 years ago after quarreling with him. His 14-year-old elder daughter Manjita and 8-year-old daughter Durga used to live with Manoj in Mumbai,” said police.
The police further said that on Tuesday afternoon, he had returned to the village from Mumbai. “On Wednesday morning, Manoj was spotted frothing under a tree near his house and when they went to his house to inform his daughters about their father’s condition, they found his elder daughter lying unconscious and frothing,” added the police official.
