Fight against organised crime underway: DGP
RANCHI: Jharkhand Director General of Police (DGP) Ajay Kumar Singh on Wednesday directed the field officers to take all measures to arrest criminals involved in organised crimes in the state.
He was reviewing the status of organised crime online with the deputy inspector general (DIGs) of Bokaro and Hazaribag and the senior superintendents of police and superintendents of police (SPs) of Ranchi, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Palamu, Latehar and Ramgarh districts.
He asked the officers to prepare a list of fugitive criminals and their accomplices, keep vigilance over accused lodged in jails, take action against their economic sources and also keep track of their trial in the courts. He said that steps should also be taken to prevent cybercrimes in the state.
The DGP said, “We are making progress on organised crime front but it is a continuous process.”
The DGP confirmed that Prince Khan, a notorious criminal involved in organised crime including demanding extortion money from traders, has escaped to Saudi Arabia via Kerala. He said that the legal process are being followed to bring him back to the country.
Criminal Investigation Department officials, including inspector general Asim Vikrant Minz, DIG M Tamil Vanan, SP S Kartik and SP Anti-terrorism squad Surindra Kumar Jha, were present at the police headquarters in the meeting.
Meanwhile, the Ranchi district administration officials, including sub-divisional officer Deepak Dubey and city superintendent of police Subhranshu Jain, raided the premises of Birsa Munda Central jail in Ranchi on Wednesday to find whether mobile phones, which are used by accused and convicts of organized crime to make extortion calls, are available with the prisoners inside the jail.
The superintendent of police said that though mobile phones were not found, around one dozen items, including screw driver, small iron weapons, cigarettes and playing cards, were seized from inmates.
