Guwahati: Guwahati is set to cheer during the
IPL match between
Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings on Wednesday ahead of Rongali Bihu. However,
rain may play spoilsport as the IMD has predicted one or two spells of rain or thundershowers on Wednesday.
Rajasthan Royals will also play a match against Delhi Capitals on Saturday here at the Barsapara cricket stadium in Guwahati.
Board of Control for Cricket in India joint secretary Devajit Saikia said, “All arrangements have been made in the stadium for a spectacular match. Hope the sky remains clear so that people can enjoy the match.”
Meanwhile, the city traffic police have imposed certain restrictions on vehicular movement in the city, exempting the emergency vehicles like ambulances and fire tenders.
Plying of commercial goods carrying vehicles (four wheelers and above) will not be allowed on NH-27 and NH-17 within the city from 11 am on Wednesday to 1 am on Thursday. There will be restrictions on commercial goods carrying vehicles and three wheelers on AK Azad Road and AK Deb Road as well. Barsapara Road from Barsapara Tiniali to Dhirenpara Tiniali will be one-way for vehicles with car passes during the match day.
