FDA seizes artificially ripened bananas

Panaji: During a surveillance drive in Mapusa subyard on Wednesday, the food and drugs administration (FDA) seized 800 kg of artificially ripened bananas from a wholesale shop.
“Ethephon, a chemical used for ripening the fruits, was also seized,” a FDA official said, adding the stock was worth Rs 65,000. Bananas seized were destroyed with the help of municipal officers. tnn
