Covid claims 71-year-old from South Bopal; 94 cases in Ahmedabad

AHMEDABAD: On Tuesday, Ahmedabad recorded death of a Covid patient - identified as a 71-year-old man from South Bopal. According to Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) health department, the man was suffering from hypertension as an underlying disease.
In the past 19 days - since the Covid cases started rising in Gujarat - the state has recorded deaths of nine active patients.
Out of total, three were in Ahmedabad and one was in Surat city. Five others were from outside the eight major cities.
In the city, the deaths included deaths of two men and a woman - all above 65 years of age. In the past two deaths, the patients had hypertension as one of health issues.
After a dip in daily cases on Monday, the daily Covid cases again breached 300-mark at 324 on Tuesday.
Out of total, Ahmedabad city recorded 94 cases, Surat city 32, Vadodara district and city 24 each, Mehsana 21, Morbi 15, and Rajkot city 14 among others. With one positive case detected in Tapi, Dangs is now the only district with zero active Covid cases.
The active Covid cases increased marginally at 2,220 as 317 persons got discharged in 24 hours. Ahmedabad accounted for 34% of the state's total active cases.
