Coconut fest, workshop at ICAR on April 13
Panaji: About 100 people will participate in the coconut festival and workshop to be conducted by the ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CCARI) on April 13.
Participants will gain an insight on the technology used to create virgin coconut oil and value-added products made from the nut.
“Many people in Goa have taken to creating produce from coconuts. However, the most lucrative is virgin coconut oil. This workshop is for the people interested in tapping the coconut’s potential for value-added products,” an ICAR-CCARI official said. tnn
The technology to extract virgin coconut oil from tender coconuts was introduced by the ICAR-CCARI to people in Goa in the financial year 2015-16, following which several self-help groups and women entrepreneurs were trained in the art of extracting the valuable oil. tnn
