LUDHIANA: Khanna police have arrested three persons and have recovered arms and ammunition from their possession.
The accused were identified as Varun Suri of New Kartar Nagar in Saleem Tabri, Amandeep Singh Khurana of Sundar Nagar and Deepak Kumar of Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan.
SSP Amneet Kondal said that on 25 March, SHO Sadar Khanna was informed by an informant that Varan and Amandeep, both residents of Ludhiana are travelling in an SUV and carrying illegal arms. She added that on which Sadar Khanna police filed a case under sections of arms act and further investigation was carried out.
The SSP said that the accused were arrested by in-charge of Police Post Kot during checking of suspected persons. She added that during questioning of accused Varun, one pistol of .32 bore and two live cartridges of 7.65mm were recovered and from Amandeep, two live cartridges of 7.65mm were recovered.
SSP said that during further investigation, 40 live cartridges were recovered from Amandeep, along with a .32 bore pistol. She added that the accused brought these .32 bore pistols and 44 cartridges from Deepak of Ganganagar, Rajasthan.
Police said that after the disclosures by the accused, Deepak was named in case on 29 March. It added that after obtaining a warrant from the court, the Police officials arrested the accused Deepak and recovered a .32 bore illegal weapon from his possession.
