GURGAON: A 37-year-old man busy talking to a taxi driver after a fender-bender in Sector 40 was allegedly abused, bitten and thrashed by an unknown SUV driver — apparently without any provocation — while his wife and 8-year-old son were with him on Monday.
The man, a resident of Sector 43, said the incident took place when he was going with his family to a hospital in South City-1 around 8.30pm.
“I was near Arya Samaj Marg, when my car was hit by a taxi from the right side. While I was talking to a taxi driver, all of sudden, an unknown person stopped his Kia Seltos and started hurling abuses at ,” the man said in his complaint.
The SUV driver allegedly threatened him too.
“When I asked him to stop, he – without any provocation – started thrashing me. He punched me on my nose and neck. He also bit me around the chest as I tried to save myself. My wife eventually tried to stop him and then he fled after people started gathering,” he told cops.
The man, bleeding from his nose, was taken to a hospital in the city. He said he couldn’t note down the SUV’s registration number.
The incident, he said, wasn’t just a shock for his family, but also traumatised his 8-year-old son.
Gurgaon police said that they got information about the incident from the hospital on Monday night.
“Teams from Sector 40 police station went to the hospital and took the man’s statement. Doctors said he had bite marks and some minor injuries. We have registered an FIR and we are looking at CCTV footage of the area for more clarity,” said Gurgaon police spokesperson Subhash Boken.
An FIR was filed at the Sector 40 police station under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
“Cops will arrest the accused soon,” the spokesperson added.
