PM Modi to take jeep safari in Bandipur Tiger Reserve
MYSURU: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to go on a safari at the Bandipur Tiger Reserve and spend two hours at the wildlife sanctuary on April 9, commemorating 50 years of India's Project Tiger initiative. This will be the PM's first visit to the poll-bound state since the announcement of assembly election, scheduled for May 10.
A senior police officer confirmed Modi's visit to Mysuru and Chamarajanagar on April 8-9. He will take a jeep safari into the core areas of Bandipur Tiger Reserve, which has the highest population of big cats in Karnataka. The PM is likely to have an interaction over breakfast with employees at the reserve.
Alok Kumar, ADGP (law and order), on Tuesday visited Bandipur and inspected the provisional spot created for the PM's VVIP helicopter to land.
Modi will later visit the Theppakadu elephant camp in Tamil Nadu, where mahout Bomman and his wife Bellie will be present. They were recently in the limelight for their performance in the Oscar-winning documentary, 'The Elephant Whisperers'.
